12/10/2007: "Why All These Discussions?"
I don't think people realize exactly what trouble they cause when they try to break down people's faith like this. They think they're helping but they're not. I mean, we all know they're pretty much pointless to begin with right? Neither side will ever give in. So it makes one wonder why they're made in the first place. If anything all we do is clear up misconceptions and rectify misunderstandings. That's all that ever happens. Even if both sides ever understood each other 100%, they'd just agree to disagree simply on preference of where to place their faith. That was a nice waste of time wasn't it?
I mean, going back at trying to understand the motives of the instigators here, what do they seriously hope to gain? What is their goal and why? It never seems to be to learn. They might say they do but forget that regardless of what is said faith will always and forever be a factor. If they're not willing to believe, no amount of discussion or proof for or against the topic will help them understand things any better or sway them further except back into their own corner. Which is their intention anyway right, to prove that they were right in their minds all along?
It's not like we seek out atheist forums and start something there. Anyone ever seen that? Is there something we do that is such an affront to everyone else that people feel the need to counteract it with their own sense of revenge by trying to tear at the walls of our faith constantly and try to leave us in ruin? We try to get away but they keep coming. So we prophecy but they don't want to hear it. Maybe were just too different? The difference between a Christian and the rest of the world is the Christian works towards the afterlife, while the world works for this life.
We separate ourselves from the world so as not to fall into it and become like the evil in the world. Some of us still offer invites for those interested to come with us where we are going, but I guess they see that as forced slavery or something because the world hates that now. So we try to leave them alone, we'll make our own little place in the internet, yet they still keep coming back. Or maybe... maybe they've been secretly asking for help all along. Maybe that's why we have all these discussions. Maybe they want to believe but they can't and are just trying to understand it their way. Is that really the reason why? Well if that's the case, pull up a chair and have a seat, we have much to discuss.
